Urticaria Activity Score (UAS)
Stratifies severity of urticaria.
INSTRUCTIONS
Note: The UAS is presented below. There are also 2 extensions of the UAS:
- UAS7: Calculated by summing once-daily UAS scores over a 7-day period, with total scores ranging from 0 to 42. Used to provide a more comprehensive assessment of disease burden compared to a single-point evaluation.
- UAS7TD: A variation of the UAS7 that involves twice-daily reporting (morning and evening) for 7 consecutive days, which may provide valuable information in patients with highly variable symptoms. While results are comparable to the UAS7, it is more cumbersome and, therefore, less commonly used.
0 points
A cutoff of 11 points for UAS7 (sum of daily UAS scores over 7 consecutive days) showed sensitivity and specificity of 74% and 86% for change in score, respectively (Hawro 2018).

MDCalc loves calculator creators – researchers who, through intelligent and often complex methods, discover tools that describe scientific facts that can then be applied in practice. These are real scientific discoveries about the nature of the human body, which can be invaluable to physicians taking care of patients.
